The database provides six romanized Malay language manuscripts that had previously been written in Jawi script and thus rendered them legible to readers in modern Malay. Thumbnails of the original manuscript is uploaded next to the transliterated forms. These sources enable research by providing full-texts of previously inaccessible manuscripts online, allowing a search for botanical ingredient across manuscripts and allow for comparisons across recipes and diseases. It adds a new frontier to the study of traditional Malay medicine. Through post-classification analysis combined with data from a plant synonymy, it is possible to group medicinal plants from the Malay world into a global taxonomy.
